Wednesday is here again, which means a new week for new comics (DIE, MARTIAN MANHUNTER & HER INFERNAL DESCENT). If you are like me, you may still have a stack of comics that haven’t been read from last week, but how can anyone fault us for reading. Here is a list of books I will be picking up at my local comic shop.

Like many readers I try to budget my purchases, which can become difficult when there are so many quality books being published each week. So here are 5 titles to consider picking up this week.

Her Infernal Descent

HER INFERNAL DESCENT #5 – $3.99

Aftershock Comics – Lonnie Nadler, Zac Thompson, Eoin Marron, Dee Cunniffe, Marshall Dillon, Kyle Charles

Lynn enters the center of the Inferno with those who turn their backs. Lucifer lies in wait with the final offer to end her suffering. Will Lynn find her forsaken family?
From Lonnie Nadler and Zac Thompson, the writers of the break-out hit The Dregs and Cable, and Kyle Charles, the artist of Roche Limit, comes a journey through hell that HAD to be told at AfterShock Comics!

Rick Morty Dungeons Dragons

RICK & MORTY VS. DUNGEONS & DRAGONS #3 – $4.99

IDW Publishing/ONI Press – Patrick Rothfuss, Jim Zub, Troy Little

A dimension where the Dungeons & Dragons paradigms are real. The rules are absolute… or, at least, they were… until Rick and Morty make their mark. Get ready to plead the fifth (edition) in this unlawful, chaotically evil story of family friction and fantasy frolics.
The world’s greatest roleplaying game.
Reality’s most dysfunctional animated series.
What could go wrong?

die

DIE #1 – $3.99

Image Comics – Kieron Gillen, Stephanie Hans, Clayton Cowles, Rian Hughes

DIE is a pitch-black fantasy where a group of forty-something adults have to deal with the returning unearthly horror they barely survived as teenage role-players. If Kieron’s in a rush, he describes it as “Goth Jumanji.” That only captures a sliver of what you’ll find in oversized debut issue-where fantasy gets all too real.

winter soldier

WINTER SOLDIER #1 – $3.99

Marvel Comics – Kyle Higgins, Rod Reis

Bucky Barnes believes in second chances.
Having escaped death, the loss of identity, and a life of murder, the man known as the Winter Soldier has worked hard to atone for his sins. But now…he’s going to go one step further. What do you do when you’ve found redemption? You help others do the same.
From KYLE HIGGINS (Nightwing, Power Rangers, C.O.W.L.) and ROD REIS (SECRET EMPIRE, DOCTOR STRANGE: DAMNATION, C.O.W.L.) comes the next chapter in the saga of the Winter Soldier. He’s becoming a “fixer,” working to help others leave behind lives of crime. It’s Bucky’s way of channeling his own pain in a productive, personal way…by helping others find the redemption that he found. However, as Bucky is going to learn, not all paths are the same…and not everyone can be “saved.”

martian manhunter

MARTIAN MANHUNTER #1 – $3.99

DC Comics – Steve Orlando, Riley Rossmo, FCO Plascencia

No matter what you know about J’onn J’onnz, you’re not prepared for this! The acclaimed team of writer Steve Orlando and artist Riley Rossmo (BATMAN/ THE SHADOW, BATMAN: NIGHT OF THE MONSTER MEN) reteam for a reinvention of the Manhunter from Mars in this twisted, unexpected series. Back on Mars, J’onn was about as corrupt as a law officer can be, and when a reckoning comes for his entire society, he’ll get a second chance he doesn’t want or deserve! One shocking murder, and an unexpected fragment of the Mars he lost, will change his life-and the course of the Earth-forever!

EXTRA PULLS: Blackbird #3, Unnatural #5, The Wicked + The Divine #40, Green Lantern #2, Venom #9
