TOP 5 COMICS TO BUY – 12/02/15: DAREDEVIL, PAPER GIRLS & PLUTONA

by | Dec 2, 2015

Wednesday approaches, and new comics are almost within our reach. So you may be like me and still have a stack of comics that haven’t been read from last week, but here is a list of new titles I will be picking up at my local comic shop.

Like many I try to budget my purchases, which can become difficult with the vast amount of quality books being published currently. So here are 5 titles worth looking into this week, and a couple honorary mentions for those that have some extra cash you saved by leaving those burnt out christmas lights to be replaced next year.

daredevil1Daredevil #1 – $3.99

Charles Soule, Ron Garney, Matt Milla, Clayton Cowles

Back in black and on his home turf, Daredevil begins again in New York City as a new enemy emerges. Meanwhile his alter ego, Matt Murdock, is on a new side of the law in the District Attorney’s office. Fighting crime in the shadows, prosecuting bad guys in the light, it’s a whole new chapter for our man without fear-including the arrival of the devil’s advocate. Welcome to Hell, Blindspot.

papergirls3Paper Girls #3 – $2.99

Brian K. Vaughan, Cliff Chiang, Matt Wilson, Jared K. Fletcher

Paper Girls is my favorite new title this year. A great coming of age, mystery story that should not be missed. Be sure to pick up this issue and the previous 2 if you haven’t already.

Seduction of The Innocent #1 – $3.99

Ande Parks, Esteve Polls, Francesco Francavilla

San Francisco, 1953. FBI Agent Thomas Jennings has just arrived in the city, fresh-faced and ready to tackle crime in the big city… he thinks. In fact, Jennings is not nearly prepared for what he’s about to encounter. The city’s crime lords are being systematically murdered, and the killers waiting to fill the void are the pure stuff of Jennings’ nightmares. Jennings will be forced to question every belief he holds dear to protect his wife and unborn child from the madness. Gritty, sometimes depraved crime fiction in the tradition of James Elroy, Jim Thompson and EC-era crime and horror comics, from the team that brought you The Death of Zorro and The Lone Ranger.

vision2The Vision #2 – $3.99

Tom King, Gabriel Hernandez Walta, Jordie Bellaire, Clayton Cowles, Mike Del Mundo

The Vision and his family attempt to cope with the surprising events of issue 1. The question is can these synthazoids keep their emotions in check or will they boil over and cause havoc on one another, and possibly their new life in the suburbs. Marvel really took a chance with this title and it really shows that the creative team has a strong dedication to making it work, competing for a place among a very busy line of superhero books.

Plutona #3 – $2.99

plutona3

Jeff Lemire, Emi Lenox, Jordie Bellaire

After discovering the body of Plutona – the world’s greatest superhero – in the woods, a shocking twist starts to tear the kids apart.

Extra pulls: Batman & Robin Eternal #9, Midnighter #7, Howard The Duck #2, Star Wars #13, Nailbiter #18
