TOP COMICS TO BUY – 06/01/16: INTERCEPTOR, PINK RANGER & THE REVISIONIST

by | Jun 1, 2016

Wednesday is here, and new comics are within reach. You may be like me and still have a stack of comics that haven’t been read from last week, but here is a list of new titles I will be picking up at my local comic shop.

Like many readers I try to budget my purchases, which can become difficult with the vast amount of quality books being published currently. This week is the release of DC’s Rebirth, but I have chosen to highlight five other titles you should also be picking up this week, plus a few extras for those of you who received that royalty cheque from that radio jingle you wrote..

4001ad24001 AD #2 – $3.99

Matt Kindt, Clayton Crain, Dave Lanphear, Tula Lotay

The most ambitious comics event of 2016 brings war to the 41st century – with Rai leading the charge!
Rai is smashing headfirst into New Japan with his team of hardened rebels – including the Eternal Warrior and a giant X-O Manowar mecha-armor that’s been dormant for centuries! But when Father transforms New Japan into a impenetrable space dragon as a defense of last resort, what hopes will the united heroes of 4001 A.D. have of freeing the citizens of New Japan from Father’s brutal reign? Will Rai have to destroy New Japan…to save it?
New York Times best-selling writer Matt Kindt (DIVINITY II) and superstar artist Clayton Crain (X-Force) bring their starling vision of the year 4001 A.D. to new heights…with the fate of New Japan floating in the balance!

interceptor5Interceptor #5 – $3.99

Donny Cates, Dylan Burnett, Dee Cunniffe, Jamal Campbell

Shit gets Metal”. Pretty much sums up this series from masterminds Donny Cates, Dylan Burnett and Dee Cunniffe. Issue #5 comes out today and is the conclusion of a simple and effective story — packed with tons of action. Poli is faced with her most difficult battle yet, and is all alone as she attempts to save Earth and Palus. Be sure to hunt down this, and the previous issues at your local comic shop this week.

MMPR_Pink_001_Variant_Tarr_PRESSPower Rangers: Pink #1 – $3.99

Brendan Fletcher, Kelly Thompson, Daniele Di Nicuolo, Elsa Charretier, Babs Tarr

I really enjoyed the recent comic launch of this iconic show of my childhood, but there is something extra exciting about this solo title centering around the original Pink Ranger, Kimberley Hart. Not sure if its the manfestation of a young boys crush, or all that pink glitter of the 1:100 Babs Tarr variant cover that has me anxiously awaiting getting this book in my hands. If their previous work doesn’t speak highly enough, It will be hard to go wrong with a writing team of Brendan Fletcher and Kelly Thompson. I can’t wait to read how Kimberley fairs once she has left the Rangers, and gain a bit more insight into her character.

revisionist1The Revisionist #1 – $3.99

Frank Barbiere, Garry Brown, Lauren Affe, Dave Sharpe

New series! How far would you go to save reality? Martin Monroe is The Revisionist-a time-traveling assassin tasked with repairing our fractured timeline. strangeattractions1Strange Attractions #1 – $3.99

Charles Soule, Greg Scott, Soo Lee, Scott Newman

Writer Charles Soule (Daredevil, Civil War) crafted a mind-bending story about how chaos math kept New York City from collapsing under itself. Presented for the first time as a limited series, each oversized issue of Strange Attractors features 30 pages of content, including new, never-before-seen bonus story pages.
Dr. Brownfield believes that a series of cataclysmic events are coming to New York City, and someone has to keep the city safe after he’s gone. Enter Heller Wilson, a brilliant mathematics student, who discovers that his ailing, perhaps insane, mentor has been saving New York City from societal collapse by a series of “adjustments,” a la the Butterfly Effect. But now, all signs point toward an impending disaster. Can Wilson take what little he’s learned and save the city in time?
