Horrorcore phenoms Twiztid have released their eleventh studio album ‘The Continuous Evilution of Life’s ?s’ today, January 27, 2017 via their label Majik Ninja Entertainment. Check out my review here.
Forget the controversy. But just know that even if we never again get to see Twiztid at another festival or tour featuring Insane Clown Posse, it’ll be OK if they keep dropping hot shit like ‘The Continous Evilution of Life’s ?s’. The perfect blend of that signature wicked shit that Madrox and Monoxide are known for, with a few surprises here and there but most importantly a completely respectable ‘evilution’ of the band.
The lyrical content is nasty as shit with ‘Kill Somebody’ quickly establishing itself as a future staple of every live show from here out. Then there’s ‘Barely Surviving (Ride or Die)’, which has the duo rapping about being labelled a Juggalo Gang Member and being persecuted under a bullshit accusatory label. Twiztid are at the top of their game and have truly distinguished themselves as the new kings of the underground.
That wasn’t a stab at anyone either – I refuse to take sides in this ridiculous Juggalo Civil War, with fans choosing to align with either Twiztid’s old label Psychopathic Records or the new game with Majik Ninja Entertainment (which is KILLING IT right now with an astounding roster of talent). There are rap rock tracks, stoner tracks, oldschool hip hop cuts – you name it, but the overall arc of the new album is that Twiztid have mastered every genre that bleeds well into horrorcore and so well mind you, that it’s nearly impossible to slap an official label on Madrox and Monoxide’s unique brand of music. The skits between songs are both hilarious and morbid (possibly at the same time…) It’s refreshing to hear the guys having a good time and not taking everything so damn seriously.
‘The Continuous Evilution of Life’s ?’s’ is one of Twiztid’s strongest efforts – ever. It is by no means an easy task competing with the classic anthem ‘Ldlha Ibcsywa’ — BUT ‘Long Road Home’ manages to go toe to toe with my all-time favorite Twiztid song. I’m impressed with this album on so many levels, both personally as a Juggalo and just a straight up fan of interesting music. Twiztid are not new to this – they’ve been doing this – a long ass time. But Twiztid continue to get better and better every new metamorphosis they go through with each album cycle. #YearOfTheSword
