Y: The Last Man Comic Series Headed to FX with Creator Brian K. Vaughan Developing

Y: The Last Man is a DC Vertigo comic series from creators Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra about the last man on earth, in a world where only females survived. The acclaimed comic, which ran for 60 issues from 2002-2008, is now being developed for television on the FX network.

Y: The Last Man has nearly been adapted a few times in the past, as early as 2007 when DJ Caruso (Eagle Eye) tried to make a big screen feature from the property. The rights reverted back to Vaughan and Guerra last year and it looks like the appropriate medium is being tackled now with a great network on board in order to tell this long and epic story.

Vaughan has plenty of television experience, writing for LOST and adapting Stephen King’s ‘Under the Dome’. He currently writes the award winning  comic series ‘Saga’, which would also be incredible if ever adapted to television. It would also be supremely difficult considering the graphic content and profound scale due to the insane visuals drawn by Fiona Staples.

Written by Brian K. Vaughan (Lost, PRIDE OF BAGHDAD, EX MACHINA) and with art by Pia Guerra, this is the saga of Yorick Brown—the only human survivor of a planet-wide plague that instantly kills every mammal possessing a Y chromosome. Accompanied by a mysterious government agent, a brilliant young geneticist and his pet monkey, Ampersand, Yorick travels the world in search of his lost love and the answer to why he’s the last man on earth.
