Minecraft Movie Sets Release Date with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Creator at The Helm

From Warner Bros., Mojang and director Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) comes the bigscreen adaptation of the hit game Minecraft. The film is scheduled for theatrical release May 24, 2019.

Minecraft is a sandbox video game originally created by Swedish programmer Markus “Notch” Persson and later developed and published by Mojang

“I know you’ve been thinking just about every day, ‘When’s the Minecraft movie coming out?’ Luckily for you, we can finally say! The Minecraft movie will be released on May 24, 2019! The film will also be released in 3D & IMAX. Yes, that might seem like a long time away, but it just so happens to be the right amount of time to make it completely awesome. And we all want an awesome Minecraft movie, right? That’s it for now, but as time goes on we’ll share loads more. Loads!” said Mojang COO Vu Bui.

Now… If you don’t know what Minecraft is – just ask any child under the age of 18 and they will gladly tell you in ways you’ll probably not understand, but make no mistake – they will tell you. Over 100 million registered users at this point for Minecraft and it’s still growing which is absurd. The game utilizes retro style pix-elated graphics but throws users into a world where they can essentially create whatever they want – buildings or entire worlds for that matter.

Hell – some psychos spent three years building the locations of Game of Thrones into the game.  Check it out.
