Another year, another San Diego Comic Con has come and gone – leaving a flurry of new trailers, announcements and more. Check out my top 10 reveals from this year’s show to see who came out on top. As a theme, DC Comics and Batman just dominated the the Con.
#10. The Dark Knight III: The Master Race to Conclude Epic Trilogy by Enlisting Artists Andy Kubert and Klaus Janson
Frank Miller and Brian Azzarello will co-write the third and final chapter in this legendary saga of an elder Batman and the addition of these two artists Andy Kubert and Klaus Janson is a promising move in finally moving ahead on this eight issue mini series.
The Dark Knight III: The Master Race debuts this Fall from DC Comics during the 30 year anniversary of the original Dark Knight Returns. Each issue will be 32 pages and feature a bonus 16-page Dark Knight Universe comic featuring a rotating roster of guest artists and characters. This may have just become my most anticipated comic series of 2015.

#9. Upcoming Fantasy TV Series The Shannara Chronicles Reveals Incredible Trailer Based on The Terry Brooks Novels
I didn’t know this existed until just now and it looks awesome. From Al Gough and Miles Millar comes The Shannara Chronicles TV series, an epic fantasy journey based on the Terry Brooks novels. We’ll get 10 episodes of this crazy looking show in January, 2016.
Manu Bennett and John Rhys-Davies have supporting roles in this thing — automatically ensuring it has street cred among fantasy geeks such as myself.

#8. The Hateful Eight to Have Original Score from Ennio Morricone & Quentin Tarantino Wants to do a Mini-Series
Not only was a new poster unveiled, but the legendary music composer Ennio Morricone (The Good, The Bad and The Ugle) was revealed to have recorded his first Western score in over 40 years for The Hateful Eight. Morricone’s pieces have been used in several Tarantino films in the past so having him do an original score is terrific news.
The director doesn’t seem as dead-set on only 10 movies before he retires anymore and mentioned that he would like to do three mini-series since he usually cuts most of his films down significantly anyway and would have no problem filling up eight hours. The Hateful Eight isn’t hitting theatres until what looks to be January on a wider scale for most of us unable to see it in Ultra Panavision 70mm.

#7. Ben Affleck to Direct Next Batman Film & Co-write With Geoff Johns
Anyone who knows Affleck, knows that he can direct one helluva flick. The Town. Gone Baby Gone. Argo. He’s a better filmmaker than he is an actor but you know what? He’s a damn fine performer too and screw everyone who still gives the guy shit. From the little we’ve seen so far of Affleck as the new Batman in the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, he looks the part and his Frank Miller inspired suit is the best way to re-introduce this character after so many other actors have worn the cowl. Having DC Creative director Johns co-writing is a nice touch too.

#6. Old Man Logan is Either Hugh Jackman’s Final Wolverine Film or a Massive Influence on it
During the Fox panel, actor Hugh Jackman dropped one of the most amazing quotes of the entire weekend when asked about his third solo and final Wolverine film with him as the character by saying:
“I’ve got three words for you guys: Old Man Logan,” – Jackman.
The upcoming Wolverine film is scheduled for release March 3, 2017. If it actually is an adaptation of the post apocalyptic tale Old Man Logan from writer Mark Millar….. Holy shit — by far my favorite Wolverine story and probably my favorite Marvel mini-series of all time. It’s that good.

#5. The #SDCC2015 Deadpool Panel Claims Victory Over All Other Panels on Comic Con Weekend
Although the R-Rated trailer has yet to officially be released online due to unfinished special effect shots, star Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to tease that there will be something ready in roughly three weeks for fans who weren’t able to see the exclusive clip in person.
For those wanting a tease right now however, T.J. Miller’s Weasel does say the following to Wade Wilson (Reynolds) after he sees his disfigured face under the Deadpool mask: ““You look like Freddy Kruger face-fucked a topographical map of Utah.”
Check out the best panel of the weekend right here:

#4. The Walking Dead Season 6 & Fear The Walking Dead Trailers are Unleashed Upon The Masses
For the past 6 years or so, the Walking Dead season trailer reveals have been my personal favorite moments of San Diego Comic Con. AMC has yet to disappoint the fans and this year is not only no different – it’s doubled in awesome with the addition of Fear The Walking Dead.
The Walking Dead Season 6 debuts October 11th with a special 90 minute premiere episode and Fear The Walking Dead is set to debut August 23rd.

#3. New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Footage Revealed in Behind-The-Scenes Comic-Con Video
Seeing the original trio of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill take the stage together was very special. Having them all back on board for Episode VII still doesn’t seem real even though we’ve now seen two teasers and this brand new behind-the-scenes footage that shows never before seen tidbits from the film that will no doubt take the number one all time box office spot over Jurassic World this year when it hits theaters December 18th.
As an added bonus – Simon Pegg appears to be playing an alien in the movie too, officially making him the coolest of all nerdy actors.

#2. First Full Length & Astounding Trailer for Ash Vs Evil Dead Series on Starz
Starz’ upcoming Ash Vs Evil Dead TV series was officially announced to debut this Halloween, October 31st for it’s 10-episode first season. This trailer was the perfect blend of all three original films but also very much so a progression and evolution of the franchise. Bruce Campbell looks like he may have just delivered his best work ever with this show. This trailer truly was astounding, gory, hilarious and one of the best moments of Comic Con weekend.

#1. Full Length Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer Cements DC Comics’ Victory of Comic-Con Weekend
I’ve never been a fan of Superman, which is probably why I loved Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. People give Warner Bros. shit for making their DC Film Universe so dark and serious, but I think you have to go there and director Zack Snyder is the perfect man for the job. Example – Watchmen – which was a masterpiece.
I’m getting that kind of vibe from the first full length trailer of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (In theatres March 25, 2016). Seeing Ben Affleck in action as both Bruce Wayne and The Dark Knight were definitely the highlights here even though we got some snippets of Wonder Woman in action too. The introduction alone of Wayne running into the chaos during what appears to be a Superman battle in order to save a small child, was perfect. I cannot wait for this flick. DC Comics is owning this weekend and owning it hard (doesn’t hurt that Marvel is on vacation this weekend).
