TOP 5 COMICS TO BUY – 04/20/16: DIVINITY II, DEPT.H & BLOODSHOT

Wednesday is here, and new comics are within reach. So you may be like me and are still reading through the stack of comics from the last couple weeks, better make some room for these new titles I will be picking up at my local comic shop.

Like many I try to budget my purchases, which can become difficult with the vast amount of quality books being published currently. So here are 5 titles worth looking into this week.

Dept.H #1 – $3.99

Matt Kindt, Sharlene Kindt

Matt Kindt is one of the best comic writers when it comes to spies, secrets and sabotage. Dept.H takes that to a whole new level, a deep sea investigation with strange creatures in a confined space. This looks like it is going to be the next MIND MGMT, which was a fantastically executed comic story.

Bloodshot Reborn #12 – $3.99

Jeff Lemire, Lewis LaRosa, Ryan Bodenheim

Motivated by the latest in a never-ending barrage of tragedies, Bloodshot is teaming with his old friend and ally, Ninjak, to take down the Shadowmen and G.A.T.E.’s X-O Manowar armor-drones. But Bloodshot’s not the technologically advanced warrior he once was. Can he overcome the onslaught of the future’s bleeding-edge “goo-tech” defenses? And just who is…the Man in the Tower?

Divinity II #1 – $3.99

Matt Kindt, Trevor Hairsine, Ryan Winn, David Baron, Tom Muller

At the height of the Cold War, the Soviet Union – determined to win the Space Race at any cost – green lit a dangerously advanced mission. They sent three cosmonauts farther than anyone has gone before or since. Handpicked orphans with no connections to Earth, trained as devout Communists, and restricted from having families, they became lost in the stars and encountered something Unknown… Something that changed them.
Long thought lost and erased from the history books, Abram Adams was the first to return. The few that have been able to reach him believe him to be a deity. They say he can bend matter, space, and even time to his will. But, even with limitless powers, he is concerned only with the secret love he hid away from his superiors and the unborn child he never met.
Now, Miska, the female co-pilot of the group, has also returned to Earth…but, unlike Abram she had no secret family. Unlike Abram, she still believes in the Communist ideal. And, unlike Abram, she intends to play a very real role in the return of Soviet glory.
Earth is about to meet a new god. And she’s a Communist. How long can it be before the nations of Earth bend before DIVINITY?
