It is Wednesday again, I am looking at the stack of comics I have not had the chance to read from the week(s) previous, and here I am making a list of titles I will be picking up at my local comic shop.
Like many I try to budget my purchases, which can become difficult with the vast amount of quality books being published currently. So here are 5 titles worth looking into this week, and a couple honorary mentions for those that have some extra cash from last weeks lottery winnings.

1602 Witch Hunter Angela #1 – $3.99
You ever wonder what superheroes would be like if they were existed in the 17th Century? Well you don’t need to. Continuing from the decade old Marvel 1602, the original 8 issues story by Neil Gaiman and Andy Kubert, 1602 Witch Hunter Angela is not to be missed this week. Angela, a character originally co-created by Gaiman for Spawn and whose rights were recently acquired by Marvel, is an Angel and bounty hunter (and sister to Thor) in the 616-Marvel Universe. Though unclear whether her 1602 version will also be an Angel, she will be on the hunt for magic and ancient powers of King James’ England. Though Gaiman isn’t scripting the book this time around, I have complete faith that the writing duo of Kieron Gillen (The Wicked + The Divine) and Marguerite Bennett (A-Force) will produce their own classic epic, to add to the Marvel 1602 world. If you haven’t read Marvel 1602, do yourself a favor and grab it when you pick issue #1 this week.
Batman #41 – $3.99
The beginning of a new story arc from Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo and Danny Miki, this issue explores the results of End Game, and uncovers the persona behind the new Dark Knight. This Bat-team has proved themselves time and again when it comes to orchestrating exciting, new stories to tell. Will Gothamites, or more importantly readers, be on board with this new iteration of the caped crusader?
Injection #2 – $2.99
It is still early to jump into this story by the creative team behind the recent Moonknight book. Warren Ellis left a lot of mystery to what the Injection is from the first issue, and how exactly it is relevant to the diminishing state the of world. The art team of Declan Shalvey and Jordie Bellaire work well together to provide a dark and chilling theme to complement Ellis’ writing. We get more information on the 5 characters associated with the Injection project, and how they came to be a part of the Cross-Cultural Contamination Unit.
Nameless #4 – $2.99
Grant Morrison, Chris Burnham and Nathan Fairbairn looks to finally reveal what Nameless and the rest of the astronauts are really going up against. Will the crew be capable of protecting themselves from the threat of the Xibalba, as they are faced with their fears. Will they be able to endure the madness inflicted by these intelligent aliens.
Weirdworld #1 – $3.99
Most of the Marvel titles we are seeing being branded as Secret Wars tie-ins are remnants of books, stories and events of the past. Weirdworld is not. This is a completely new book following a barbarian, Arkon, as he travels through a territory filled with swords, sorcery and strange creatures. The talented Jason Aaron, accompanied by artist Mike Del Mundo send Arkon on a quest through one of the weirdest and fantastical world Battleworld has to offer.
