TOP 5 COMICS TO BUY – 12/04/19: OVER THE ROPES & MIDNIGHT VISTA

Wednesday is here again, which means a new week for new comics (OVER THE ROPES & MIDNIGHT VISTA). If you are like me, you may still have a stack of comics that haven’t been read from last week, but how can anyone fault us for reading. Here is a list of books I will be picking up at my local comic shop.

Like many readers I try to budget my purchases, which can become difficult when there are so many quality books being published each week. So here are 5 titles to consider picking up this week.

OVER THE ROPES #1 – $3.99

Mad Cave Studios – Jay Sandlin, Antonello Cosentino, Francesco Segala, Justin Birch

Set in a fictional world, Over the Ropes dives into sports entertainment’s biggest era. A young high-flyer named Jason Lynn goes off-script in a match to win the world title and sets the southern territory on fire as the face-painted wrestler, Phoenix. Jason’s battles between the ropes are only outperformed by his struggles outside the ring. First dates. Crooked promoters. Cage matches. Factions and families. No matter what problems smack him with a steel chair, Jason lives by his catchphrase: I. Will. Rise.

POWER RANGERS/NINJA TURTLES #1 – $3.99

BOOM! Studios – Ryan Parrott, Simone Di Meo, Walter Baiamonte, Igor Monti, Ed Dukeshire, Dan Mora

* The Power Rangers arrive in New York City to find Tommy Oliver (a.k.a. The Mighty Morphin Green Ranger) but soon discover he’s joined forces with the villainous Shredder and the Foot Clan!
* As the Rangers are sent reeling by this betrayal, they ‘re confronted by another (fr)enemy… the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Can these heroes find a way to work together to defeat the bad guys and save the world from total destruction?!

STRANGE SKIES OVER EAST BERLIN #3 – $3.99

BOOM! Studios Jeff Loveness, Lisandro Estherren, Patricio Delpeche, Evan Cagle

Hunted to the point of exhaustion, June Branch struggles to outwit and outfight the home invader coming after her. He’s armed with a .44 and a secret agenda; she’s got a thousand year-old Viking relic and no way to escape. The axe is about to fall in the topsy-turvy second chapter of the horror story with the sharpest edge in comics!

DIE #10 – $3.99

Image Comics – Kieron Gillen, Stephanie Hans, Clayton Cowles

“SPLIT THE PARTY,” Conclusion
Forget escaping DIE.

MIDNIGHT VISTA #4 – $3.99

AfterShock Comics – Eliot Rahal, Clara Meath, Mark Englert, Taylor Esposito, Juan Doe

After making his escape to California, Oliver finds himself hiding in plain sight amongst the many invisible and forgotten faces of Los Angeles County. For the time being, he is safe. Neither the police nor the mysterious “Strangers in Black” know where he is. But he’s also alone. Lost in a city – and a world – that he doesn’t know how to navigate, Oliver seeks out the one man his mother told him could help reconnect him with the very aliens that abducted him so many years ago.
